About IUR Press
IUR Press was established to publish high-quality academic research in the form of books, journals, and bulletins focused on Islam in its contemporary context. Our mission is to explore and articulate the ethical and intellectual principles of Islam through authentic Islamic perspectives.
As a multidisciplinary institution, IUR Press brings together expertise in economics, politics, history, culture, linguistics, and literature within the Islamic world. Our collaborative team includes Islamologists, political economists, political scientists, historians, and scholars of language and literature—united by a shared commitment to the study of Islam and Muslim societies in their broadest scope.
We aim to engage scholars and specialists working on Islam and minority communities, particularly those examining the presence and contributions of minority groups in Europe and the Netherlands. IUR Press is committed to promoting moderation, dialogue, and social harmony within Europe’s multi-religious and multicultural landscape, while encouraging meaningful interaction between Islamic and other world civilizations.
Our Core Principles
At IUR Press, we are guided by the following principles:
- Emphasizing the Islamic worldview and its application within non-Muslim societies—Dar al-Sulh (land of peace),
- Exploring the meaning of life through the lens of the Qur’an, viewed as the revealed word of Allah,
- Promoting critical, ethical, and responsible citizenship in secular societies,
- Serving communities with objectivity, independence from state institutions and ideological schools of thought.
Vision & Mission
Our vision and mission encompass:
- Fostering Islamic knowledge and scholarship within the diverse, modern societies of Europe—particularly the Netherlands,
- Creating a socially engaged academic community that upholds rigorous scholarship, rooted in a faith-based pursuit of justice,
- Advancing harmony, dialogue, and intellectual balance through knowledge creation rooted in Islamic tradition,
- Serving as a leading platform for Islamic and social publishing, combining academic excellence with a commitment to the progress of both Dutch and Muslim communities,
- Pursuing a continuous journey toward truth, recognizing that true understanding arises when conscience and intellect work in harmony. We believe that religious sciences illuminate the heart, while modern sciences enlighten the mind. The educational journey of our scholars takes flight on these two wings—conscience and reason. In the third millennium, true leadership is defined by the courage of belief, reason, and knowledge.
